After some messing around, setting things up for ASIO, I/O, I was able to quickly record a song with my electric guitar and true enough, 0 latency! I then, tried plugging in my multi-effects gadget and recorded some pretty good takes. Wow, what a difference from a multi-track, where you’re at the mercy of those little convoluted and incomplete menus and excruciatingly limited space! I’m certainly not a heavy-duty user in the world of computer audio but I have been looking for an affordable way to transfer a large collection of RDAT tapes into my iMac and do some cleaning plus other housekeeping on the transferred tracks. I have been using the Cakewalk UA-1G USB Audio Interface for about a month and it is everything I need it to be. When this project is done I will attach it to the output of my preamp and then download some LPs that never showed up on CD. By the way, I use the Cakewalk with Audacity which is a free downloadable audio program and have had no problems at all. Audacity will output just about any file format and I find it ideal for making wav, flac or mp3 files. – B. Wickham
